The way we learn, study, recruit or apply for jobs: it is all changing

"When ever I am stuck I get help from the internet" said this 12 year old boy who was selling us handmade earthen pots. He and his younger brother were obviously intelligent boys. There was a will to study and help came from the Great Source without boundaries and without barriers The Internet.

How things have changed for the better, and how heartening. Have a dream and follow it.

It never ceases to surprise me how many good people all over the world are giving so much for free to fellow humanity via the internet. I myself have been using this resource ever since it came about sometimes in the late nineties. So a big thank you to all those wonderful unknown people who have been my benefactors.

My son and daughter-in-law run a startup company. When hiring people they prefer to see what the candidates know rather than the degrees they carry. They look for the ability of the candidate to self learn using the internet.

There was a time when having secured a degree from a reputable institute meant a job is certain. Now there is a fresh competition coming from self taught people.

Education and learning as we know is changing all the time. The pace of change is accelerating. It seems.

Digitally reducing entropy: a recipes site

Entropy, or the increase of disorder with time is generally what we witness in most things. Unless an effort is made to reduce it.

In the process of making a recipes website something of a reversal of entropy seems to be happening. The picture below is of new and old recipe sources which were available with us.

Two recipe notebooks, some sheets with hand written recipes, a newer recipe book, two very old ones and a smartphone showing numerous online recipes.

Almost all the recipes in the notebooks and the handwritten sheets are used. They are after all a collection of recipes created over time. Recorded in hand as they are needed readily.

Only a few out of the dozens of recipes in the recipe books are bookmarked and used.

On the internet a few out of thousands of recipes are used.

However, over time many are lost. The disorder increases.

Making a website where all the different sources of recipes are placed in collections reverses this process of losing the recipes.

For example all the different recipes we had are now available in a neat and searchable form in this new web site we have made Recipe Binder Online. Saving what was being lost.

Recipe Binder Online my new website

https://recipebinder.online/

I have made a new website which allows users to upload recipes and collect them in convenient binders. It is called Recipe Binder Online.

You can learn more about it from the posts in my blog (Recipe Binder Online Blog) which is about the experiences around the making and further development of this website.
